Las Hermanas Mirabal are Dominican heroines from el Salcedo that were assassinated in November 25th, 1960 because they organized the 14th of June movement to remove the Dictator Trujillo from power. Patria Mercedes Mirabal was born on Februrary 27th, 1924 and died November 25th, 1960. Belgica Adela Mirabal Reyes was born March 1, 1925 and continues to live. Maria Argentina Minerva Mirabal was born March 12, 1926 and died November 25th, 1960. Antonia Maria Teresa Mirabal was born October 15th, 1935 and died November 25th, 1960.

Minerva Mirabal has a Law degree and the other Sisters attended high school

Awards/ Recognitions :

The United Nations General Assembly appointed the 25th of November as the international Day for the Elimination of Violence against women in order to honor them.
